First time at the track in the Evo

So I went fo CFRC last night and ran the 1/8th 3 times; went as such:
    9.6 @ 80mph w/ 2.9 60' (terrible I know)
    8.6 @ 84mph w/ 2.0 60'
    redlighted 3rd run

I bogged 1st all 3 runs (was trying to take it easy and not beat theh hell outa her) ,but once I hit 2nd shes off like a rocket. Gotta work on the launch I know. For a 380-400hp full weight daily driven car, is this an ok time slip? Just curious what others are doing.

Good to see you are having fun with the Evo, Tim.

On your best run, the 8.6@84 mph, with a 2.0 60' is not bad at all.

If you add about 26 mph for a full 1/4 mile pass, that will put your trap speed at around 110 mph.

I think you are off by 2 mph in the 1/8, and 2-4 mph on the 1/4 with your mods.

Your car should run very well on Hi Boost and Hi Test Fuel with your mods. Try it one time.

He he, may just have to do that. Just how many PSI is safe to add if you have a tank of c16?

I am also surprised your car didn't trap slightly higher (maybe 86-88mph) in the 1/8th.

My pig of an Evo X trapped ~83mph in the 1/8th at OSW and nearly 107mph (106.82 to be exact) in the 1/4 with a 2.0s 60ft. As you know my car is essentially stock, full weight as well. It made on 333awhp on TTP's dyno but that was before I detuned the timing maps to smooth it out some minor knock counts.

Granted they are two totally different platforms, I just figure with more horsepower and a weight advantage, your Evo VIII should be significantly quicker than my Evo X.

I think its the launch, and im not hitting the limiter before shifting. A little practice and I think I can get there.

I used to run on the old style FP Green, 32 psi on C16. It was a similar Turbo that what you are using now.

But if you want to run a little less, you will be very safe on C16 at 30 psi.

At the track, the car will not spike that hi going through the gears shifting fast anyway.

Do not add a whole tank of C16. Wait until you are less than a 1/4 tank of regular gas, (near empty) and add 5 gallons of C16. No less than that.

You do not want to add alot of fuel over that to run at the track. Every gallon is about 10 lbs.

Ok, well went tonight and guess I did something right. Managed to run an 8.4 with a 1.8 60' on pump gas. Only made one run, hit the numbers I wanted and didn't want to push my luck, lol. Didn't figure that is to bad, especially since it was 100 freakin degrees our there!
